This one got under my pare when I was a teenager and I never forgot it.

I read information technology in an anthology of science fiction stories long earlier I e'er saw the Twilight Zone episode.

Creepy and disturbing every bit all get out. This is truly a classic.

Whatever they do, they try non to think about the ones Anthony has "thought" into the cornfield.
Information technology'southward a Adept Life is a deeply unnerving tale, easily amongst the all-time short stories I've read and arguably one of the single nigh effective horror and sci-fi shorts written in the 20th Century. In 1961, it was adjusted into an episode of the Twilight Zone. If you're looking for a terrifying supernatural dystopia of Centre-America, you know, if y'all don't experience like yous alive in the grip of a demented kid king enough already, this is the story for you.

-Read in The Science Fiction Hall of Fame, Volume One-

Terrifying story that riffs off how unready humans are for telepathy. Successfully builds suspense and really creeps you out. I can definitely see why they fabricated a Twilight Zone episode based on this story.

I read this story 50 years ago, while on a holiday with my grandfather at my aunt's house in Virginia. (We flew domicile; my start time on an airplane.) All I remembered were the scrambled thoughts on the sidewalk outside the mind-reading boy's business firm, the terror of the villagers, and the devastation of the world beyond, yet the story somehow managed to haunt me. And then glad my vague recollections led me to the story this afternoon. And how did I manage to miss the Twilight Zone episode based on this? I think that "It's a Good Life" is written very well and would appeal to people who beloved a very similar book, "The Veldt." "It's a Good Life" evangelize a very powerful bulletin - that we NEED healthy relationships with the people around us. Without them, life tin exist dangerous and we would accept then much more pressure and stress over the smallest things. Overall, I think that this is a great story and that Jerome Bixby is a gifted writer.

Chilling. Much better than the Twilight Zone episode, in my opinion, specially the scene with Dan.

I loved this story. I imagined it like a childlike Q from Star Expedition an omnipotent being who at the click of his fingers could exercise anything he wished. Its two parts psychological horror and one office science fiction and all of it is and then very very skillful to read.

Goddamn, that was an exhausting read.

Anthony's character was very striking from the beginning of the story. (view spoiler)[The way he handled the rat showed what kind of person he was, what powers he had, and how destructive he could have been. Wow, very creepy.
I child born in a small boondocks has god like powers. Is this a good affair or a horror story? You lot'll just take to read it to find out.
Well that's probably non true since information technology was written most 70 years ago and a Twilight Zone episode of the same championship is pretty famous.
It'due south nevertheless a great story and definitely worth reading.
Lauren Donis
Always loved the Twilight Zone movie segment of this and had no idea it was based on a short story. This is not as goofy and is a picayune darker. As well nice to accept a petty more complexity to Anthony's character and the childish randomness to the way he thinks.

This was a fun story. It manages to create a great idea of the earth and the terror of the kid in a brusk corporeality of fourth dimension.

Good brusque story almost a child who has god like powers and is a psychopath.
Moral of the story: Kids are crazy and should never have any ability

Not bad horror story, and the Twilight Zone episode was different enough that I didn't feel like I already knew what was going on.
